The first Top5Slots ranking is live. We took a pool of 163 well-known slots, measured the audience for each one's most-watched videos over the past 12 months, and kept the top 100. The full method is here. These are the things that stood out.
1. Dragon Link is number one
Dragon Link took the top spot, with 9.2M views across its 20 most-watched videos of the past year. The full top five is Dragon Link, Phoenix Link, Monopoly (series), Huff N' Puff and Spooky Link.
2. The casino floor out-draws online on YouTube
8 of the top 10 are casino floor machines. Across the whole list the split is 52 casino floor machines to 48 online slots. Part of that is the measure itself: big US slot channels film in casinos, and handpay jackpots make for popular videos. The highest-ranked online slot is Zeus vs Hades: Gods of War at number 9, and the online top three is Zeus vs Hades: Gods of War, Sugar Rush 1000 and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter.
3. Popular slots are volatile slots
56 of the 100 are rated High or Extreme volatility. The Low band has just 1. The games people most want to watch are the ones built around rare, large wins. That makes sense for video. It is worth remembering when you play: the clips show the hits, not the long stretches in between.
4. A few makers own the list
Aristocrat has the most entries with 22, followed by Pragmatic Play with 21 and Light & Wonder with 15. On the casino floor, a small number of companies build most of the machines people talk about. Online, the field is wider, but the biggest studio still takes a large share.
5. The same favorites go to sea
38 machines on the list earned our At sea badge, meaning they appear in at least three videos filmed in cruise ship casinos. The most filmed at sea are Wheel of Fortune, Buffalo Gold, Dancing Drums, Dragon Link and Lightning Link. If you know the floor at home, you will recognize the floor on the ship. See the cruise ship ranking.
What comes next
The list will be refreshed regularly, and because the score uses a rolling 12 months, new releases will move up as older buzz drops away. We also plan to blend Reddit and X discussion into the score alongside YouTube. If there is a slot you think belongs in the pool, tell us.
A popular slot is not a better bet. Every game on this list has a house edge. Play for fun, set a limit, and stop when you reach it.
